8TH ANNUAL BATTLE ON THE BOARDWALK TOURNAMENT

WILDWOOD, NJ  JUNE 14 & 15, 2008

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

1. National High School Federation rules will apply to all age divisions.

2. Timeouts: 2 full and 2 @ 30 seconds

3. 5 fouls per player

4. One and one at 10 team fouls, 2 shots at 13 team fouls per half

5. All foul shots will be on the hit (not the release)

6. Length of games

    • 10U -12U 14 minute halves with stop clock
    • 13U-17U 16 minute halves with stop clock

7. 3 minute half time

8. First overtime is 2 minutes; second, third,…1 minute

9. 10U to 12U games will use a 28.5 “ ball.

10. Any protests must be communicated immediately to the site director. Protest must be submitted in writing and be accompanied by a $100.cash payment. A committee will consider all protests as soon as possible. Protests pertaining to an official’s judgment call will not be considered. All officials must be certified and registered with their respective state’s association.

11. Bench rules: only eligible players and a maximum of three coaches may be on the team’s bench (this includes statistician, ball boy or assistant coaches).

12. A team and or player is subject to immediate disqualification from the tournament for any misconduct deemed inappropriate, unacceptable, unsafe and/or abusive by the tournament staff. Any inappropriate behavior such as fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct or ineligible players will mean automatic disqualification from the tournament. No refunds will be issued in the event of a disqualification. Each coach is responsible for all members of his/her team and parents. Any damage to the playing facility property is the responsibility of the head coach.

13. Tie Breaker Criteria

      A.  Head to head competition: the team who won in head to head competition between the two tied teams moves on.

      B.  Point system: A point differential system will be used if three or more teams are tied. Teams will receive a maximum of plus 15 points for a win and minus 15 

      points for a loss. The team with the most positive points will be first followed by the team with the next highest point total. If two teams remain tied, they would

      revert to the first tie breaker system.

      C. Defensive point system: A total defensive point system will be used if three teams remain tied. If two remain tied, they would revert to the first tie breaker

     system. Example: team A is 2and 1with wins of 56-32 and 64-45 and the loss of 56-64. Total defensive points determined are 141.

      D. Repeat the same procedure for the remaining two teams. The team with the lowest points allowed will determine the team’s order of placement.

14. Each team is allowed only 3 player exceptions. Team rosters are limited to 15 players.

15. Running clock: At the time one team gains a lead of thirty (30) or more points on the opposing team, the clock will not be stopped (except for a time out) until the trailing team brings the point difference to twenty points or less.

17U               Sept. 1, 1990 to Aug. 31, 1991

 

Grade Exceptions: Players who are in the same grade, but may be one year older. Must have a school official signed Grade Exception Form.

 

Tournament Play:

10U Age Group: (7 Team Division) One Pool (A) of three teams and one pool (B) of four teams will play the teams in their respective pools. 1st place teams from each pool will play for championship. Second place finisher of Pool A will play the loser of game between teams 15 and 18 in consolation game. Third place finisher of Pool A will play the loser of game between teams 16 and 17 in a consolation game.

 

11U Age Group: (4 Team Division) One pool (C) of 4 teams will play other teams in the pool. Top two teams with best record (see Tie Breaker Criteria) will play for championship.

 

12U Age Group: (13 Team Division) Three pools (D, F, G) of 3 teams and one pool (E) will play each team in their pool. First place teams from pools D & E will play in one semi-final game. First place teams from pools F & G will play in other semi-final game. Semi-final winners will play in championship. 2nd and 3rd place finishers from pools D, F & G will play cross pool consolation games

 

13U Age Group: (13 Team Division) One pool (H) of 4 teams will play all other teams in their pool. First place team plays in one semi-final. Three pools (J, K, L) of 3 teams will play all other teams in their pools. Pool winner from J will play pool winner from H in one semi-final. Pool winners from K & L will play in the other semi-final game. Semi-final winners will play in championship game. Second and third place finishers from pools J, K and L will play cross pool consolation games.

 

14U Age Group: (20 Team Division) Five pools (M, N, P, Q, R,) of 4 teams will play other teams in their pools. Pool winners with best record (see Tie Breaker Criteria) will play in semi-finals. We will seed #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3 using Tie Breaker Criteria). Semi-final winners play for championship. 

 

15U Age Group: (12 Team Division) Four pools (S, T, U, V) of 3 teams. Teams will play all other teams in their pools. Pool winners with best records (see Tie Breaker Criteria) will play in semi-final games (S1 vs. T1 and U1 vs. V1). Semi-final winners will play for championship. All remaining teams will play a cross pool consolation game.

 

16U Age Group: (16 Team Division) Four pools (W, X, Y, Z) of 4 teams. Teams will play all other teams in their pools. Pool winners with best record (see Tie Breaker Criteria) will play in semi-final games (W1 vs. X1 and Y1 vs. Z1). Semi- final winners will play for championship.

 

17U Age Group: (12 Team Division) Four pools (AA, BB, CC, DD) of 3 teams. Teams will play all other teams in their pools. Pool winners with best records (see Tie Breaker Criteria) will play in semi-final games (AA1 vs. BB1 and CC1 vs. DD1). Semi-final winners will play for championship. All remaining teams will play a cross pool consolation game.
